The Senior Counselor of the Therapeutic Services Program (TSP) will provide individual and group therapy for children and adults who have been exposed to intimate partner violence. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for social justice and anti-oppressive practice, ample experience providing intakes, assessments, planning and implementing therapeutic services to a wide age range of people, a desire to work collaboratively with a team. Experience working with survivors of intimate-partner violence and their children is preferred. All candidates must have a strong understanding of trauma-based work. The Senior Counselor position will work under the supervision of the TSP Supervisor remotely/at home.

 

When the program returns to in-person services, clinician will work in our East Harlem office as well as at the Manhattan Family Justice Center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic individual, family, group and crisis services.
  • Assess and plan for the treatment implementation using trauma-informed evidence-based models of intervention.
  • Network within the community and work as an advocate for clients within various institutions.
  • Maintain accurate case files.
  • Participate actively in weekly individual and team supervision.
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual, Spanish Preferred.
  • Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling or related field.
  • LMSW OR LMHC Preferred. Licensure within 6 months of hire REQUIRED.
  • Training in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and/or other evidence-based practices designed to support survivors of trauma preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish, preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of intimate partner violence.
  • Proficiency working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles with various identities.
  • Passion for incorporating reflective practice around issues of race, oppression, and diversity into clinical work.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills and the ability to apply these skills in diverse situations..
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work as a team member, and independently.

Starting Salary $68,000.00/Annually
