Senior Manager, Software Development

As a Senior Software Development Manager within the Abilene Networking organization, you will spearhead the development of innovative services in the Networking Automation & Health domain. This initiative involves building a robust software stack from the ground up to monitor and manage network infrastructure, automatically resolve network issues, and ensure high bandwidth with low latency connections.
You will assemble and lead a team that combines software engineering excellence with network control expertise, collaborating with senior technical leaders to design and deliver solutions to complex and impactful challenges.
This is an exciting and transformative time for us. We are rapidly growing, still in the early stages, and driving ambitious initiatives such as network control plane development, network health monitoring, and auto-recovery services. We are seeking an experienced M3-level manager with a deep understanding of systems design and distributed systems to build scalable, high-performance solutions.

• Lead and coach engineering teams to deliver successful products and services.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.
• Launching new cloud services and establishing operational excellence.
• Setting the technical direction for a foundational control-plane component used across OCI.
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing best talent.
• Establishing and stimulating software development standards and processes along with best practices for the team
• Defining new KPIs to inform decision making and prioritization.
• Sets Goals and Expectations for performance and works with employees to establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.

Basic Qualifications:
 

• 4+ years of management experience in enterprise software
• 8+ years of experience with applications development with 2+ years in large scale distributed applications / web services/ systems design
• Proficient at programming in Java (preferred), C#, Python
• Bachelors in computer science and engineering or related engineering fields

Preferred Qualifications:
 

• 7+ years of management experience
• Prior development experience within Cloud Infrastructure or network control plane development
• Knowledge of Networking protocols is a plus
• Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
