Join our team as a Sr Product Owner (PO) who will be a key part of our extended Product Management team and crucial member of the Agile Team. Sr PO owns the Team / Sprint backlog representing the single source of truth and the single point of contact for our Dev team and Customer team for user story details. This is a crucial role responsible for defining and refining user stories and prioritizing our Agile Team backlog to streamline execution of product (program) priorities while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of features for the team. In this capacity the Sr PO remains highly available to the Dev teams during each iteration (sprint) in order to answer real time questions and provide clarity to user stories. Drives user story refinement activities ensuring Team backlog contains 2 iterations worth of 'ready' work for Dev team. These two are essential to enabling Dev teams to improve and maintain high velocity / efficiency in iteration (sprint) execution. For this reason, a Sr PO supports a single Agile (Scrum), but often supports multiple tams as part of sophisticated initiatives.

Our Sr PO has a meaningful role in quality control and is the only team member empowered to accept stories as done, ensuring the acceptance criteria has been met. This role has significant relationships and responsibilities outside their specific Agile team, including working with Product Management, who is responsible for the Product (Program) Backlog, to prepare for the Program Increment (PI) Planning meeting (Big Room Planning). This role coordinates with other POs to align backlogs to complete large, cross-functional initiatives. In addition, mentoring other Product Owners to ensure they are growing in their career and job acumen.

Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains Agile (Scrum / Sprint) team backlog, with input from customer, Product Manager, System Architect/Engineering and other partners (team backlog consists mostly of user stories, it also includes defects and enablers.) Typically maintaining 2 iterations (sprints) worth user stories available and ready in team backlog.
  • Collaborates with Agile team and partners to writes user stories and requirements that include acceptance criteria and acceptance tests, typically for 1+ Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Runs PO sync meeting with other PO’s on larger / scaled backlogs; Mentors, coaches and guides PO's. Helps lead Product Owner Community of Practice (COP).
  • Reviews and accepts completed user stories, being accountable and responsible quality and performance in production environment.
  • Supports and helps Product Manager build and manage product vision and technical roadmap, primarily related to working scope.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 5+ yrs relevant Product Management, Product Owner, Business Analyst, and System Analyst or Architecture/Software Engineer experience in an agile software product development environment. Sophisticated level understanding of customer experience (Required)
  • 5+ yrs of experience with Cloud Technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Technical Writing Strong requirements elicitation, and validated writing skills including the ability to write concisely and clearly for different audiences. (Required)
  • Agile Project Management Experience with Agile backlog/project management tools. (Required)
  • Communication Proven record to optimally and efficiently connect with Leadership, technical and non-technical audiences while employing a high degree of collaboration and influence. (Required)
  • User Experience with successive elaboration and ability to develop Initiatives, Features and User Stories that the DevOps teams can ingest. (Required)
  • Business Analytics Strong analytical skills with ability to identify/analyze/synthesize product use data and use the data to drive decisions. (Required)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field, or its foreign equivalent, and 4+ years of relevant work experience.
