Software Architect

The Principal Research Engineer V, S3, software architect provides high-level software designs Leads and establishes program-wide best practices specific to UAS products, projects, and programs.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Perform comprehensive research and serve as lead for architecting and designing new software projects/programs.
• Develop & maintain CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines
• Oversee, maintain and sustain a production safety-critical environment
• Oversee the configuration of multiple developmental and production environments
• Lead and conduct customer technical interchange meetings
• Lead and conduct hands-on integration, interoperability, and functional testing
• Lead and conduct program and technical exchange meetings

• Ph.D. - preferably in science, engineering, or business, 6 - 8 years of full-time work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
• Expert across multiple different computer programming languages
• Deep experience with Python
• Familiar with software development best practices
• Experience with the entire software development lifecycle (from development through production & operations)
• Experience with architecting complex software projects

• Experience with cloud-based and hybrid environments preferred
• Experience with hardware-software integration desired
• Experience with UAS-specific hardware (or other safety-critical environments) preferred
• Experience with cybersecurity and software security design best practices desired
• Flight testing experience preferred
