About the role

Responsible for contributing to the development of product taxonomy, in collaboration with both business and technical subject matter experts.  Accountable for managing the taxonomy itself, determining how products are mapped into the taxonomy and maintaining mappings from our core taxonomy to other internal and external taxonomies.  Responsible for ensuring Wesco’s core product (electrical, communications and utility) alignment of the taxonomy for business needs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Revise and enhance our core and business taxonomies, in collaboration with business stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Develop mappings and relationships to other taxonomies for internal business groups and external consumers
  • Work closely with business leaders, IT teams, and data analysts to understand their needs and develop taxonomies that align with the company's goals
  • Maintain functional logic for classifying products into our taxonomy
  • Incorporate external data and standards into the development of the taxonomy
  • Support and Train Teams; ensure our teams understand and apply the taxonomy effectively; provide training and offer guidance on best practices

Qualifications:

  • 3 years’ experience developing a taxonomy for industrial products
  • 3 years’ Data management and transformation experience using a PIM system
  • Strong understanding of product taxonomy principles, data classification, and categorization standards.
  • Knowledge of data governance and best practices for managing product data.at scale 
  • Strong knowledge of Wesco’s core products (electrical, communications and utility)

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.
