Litigation Paralegals assist attorneys across practice areas on a wide-variety of litigation. They collaborate with case teams to help manage the litigation process from inception through trial, leveraging their knowledge to streamline the execution of litigation tasks and create efficiencies. As they engage in high-profile cases across the country, Goodwin’s Litigation paralegals focus on results-oriented representation.

What You Will Do:

  • Aids in E-discovery and trial prep assistance

  • Assists with trial site preparation and may attend trials

  • Summarizes research results clearly and concisely

  • Conducts legal research by means of conducting reviews of documents, and searching public records as well as electronic information sources

  • Maintains and prepares documents which will later be reviewed, approved and used by attorneys (namely chronologies, summaries, memoranda, charts, and affidavits)

  • Prepares, reviews and summarizes documents, such as witness interview memoranda, through the use of substantive coding tools.

  • Performs and oversees both simple and complex cite checking and proof reading of briefs and other legal documents.

  • Manages the document production processes of both hard and electronic documents

  • Collects material from client, opposing parties, and third parties (hard copies, electronic data, physical evidence) and maintains chain of custody through the process.

  • Designs and implements document review systems.

  • Prepares privilege logs.

  • Prepares pretrial documents. Sets up and manages trial offices and trial support (e.g. remote office setup and logistics).

  • Manages all phases of a litigation case including litigation motion practice, discovery, arbitration trial and appellate procedures

  • Compiles information into charts, graphs and timelines

  • Researches prior testimony and publications of opposing experts. Researches rules of procedure for relevant court venues, and assures adherence thereto

  • Administratively manage all phases of a litigation case including litigation motion practice, discovery, arbitration trial and appellate procedures


Who You Are:

  • BA/BS , Paralegal Certificate or qualifying work experience required

  • 7-10+ years of experience

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to exude a high level of attention to detail

  • Capable of handling multiple responsibilities

  • Ability to work well in a team oriented environment

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required

  • Developed independent understanding of basic ideas and/or legal concepts involved with the types of matters to which he/she is likely to be assigned, and seeks such information on assigned matter.

  • Independently handles unexpected issues that arise during the course of a project

  • Effectively carries knowledge gained regarding how to perform a task or project to the next, similar project, with no re-explanation, and can at times apply this knowledge to different types of tasks, in order to create efficiencies

  • Understands how clients’ business needs relate to work assignments without explanation

  • Handles assignments involving comple
