JOB SUMMARY
The Certified Ophthalmic Technician functions as a member of the healthcare team by providing a wide range of standardized and specialized ophthalmic procedures to assist providers in providing for patients' care, comfort, and safety. The individual will document, score, and record test results and present test data to the attending providers. The Certified Ophthalmic Technician performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System's mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Successful completion of a medical terminology course within six months of hire. Employees in this job joining MCHS through acquisition may be grandfathered due to an education requirement variance.
Preferred/Optional: Graduate of a medical assistant program. Successful completion of a medical terminology course at time of hire.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Three years’ experience in Ophthalmology.
Preferred/Optional: None.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association within three months of hire. Certified Ophthalmic Technician certification awarded by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association at time of hire.
Primary location is Wausau with potential to travel to Stevens Point one day/week
