Job Description
The Warehouse Manager ensures the accurate and timely receipt, storage and distribution of all materials and finished product in an efficient and safe manner. Supervises, trains, inspects, and manages personnel and projects as required. Keeps Director of Manufacturing and staff apprised of work schedules and progress on activities; relates any pertinent information which affects productivity and/or effectiveness of operations. Participates in strategic planning to help develop programs and short and long-term goals which maximize future growth and profitability.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish, implement, support, and fully understand processes, policies and regulations that relate to the warehouse function. Ensure all processes are documented and employees are well trained on them. Develop and implement corrective steps to ensure all areas achieve quality, cost, and productivity goals. This includes the timely and accurate receipt and storage of materials, providing production with accurate quantities and/or proper picking and ship-outs. Position may also include accountability for accurate weight verifications and the pulling of samples. Effectively manage change throughout the area of supervision and demonstrate continuous improvement concepts, ideas, and processes within the department.
- Set, monitor, and communicate department and individual goals to ensure all employees are aware of the department’s performance. Provide timely and consistent feedback, coach and motivate associates to exceed expectations. Administer corrective action and authorize terminations when appropriate. Complete performance evaluations in an effective and timely manner. Manage hiring and headcount. Identify department training needs and implement career development goals for employee growth. Assign staffing and work hours to complete daily workload schedules efficiently. Responsible for reconciliation of hours for payroll and tracking of attendance. Enforce in a firm and equal manner company policies and established rules.
- Manage inbound and/or outbound freight and communicate with production management and, as needed, assist with production’s scheduling of work. Manage shipping and/or distribution areas to ensure jobs or materials are received and shipped within pre-determined time frames. Oversee the follow-up on all internal, customer or vendor questions regarding receipt of goods and/or delivery performance. Maintain good relationships with all vendors. Take action necessary for proper resolution.
- Ensure all inventory management processes are followed so standard and customer-owned product system counts accurately reflect physical on-hand quantities. Accountable for the Inventory Control database and troubleshooting system failures; monitor to address good or bad trends in department performance.
- Accountable for safety and cleanliness of department. Ensure that all departments’ areas are kept clean orderly and maintained in the most functional manner. Maintain sound 5S practices throughout the entire area of supervision. This includes the efficient storage of materials, the effective set up of all work areas and periodic cleaning of floors, workstations and equipment. Ensure certification of all employees utilizing material handling equipment. Report accidents and any safety concerns to manufacturing and Human Resources.
- Ensure proper material disposition, disposal and recycling of excess. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management to achieve overall objectives of the organization.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field. (Or equivalent related work experience.)
EXPERIENCE
- 3 - 5 years experience in transportation, warehouse management and inventory control utilizing current technology and processes or related managerial experience. (Required)
