Description
The Research Center Manager is responsible for the administrative management of business functions and coordination of day-to-day center operations. The Research Center Manager provides leadership, management and direction and supports multiple large and complex research efforts conducted by faculty within the center. This individual works with scientific and administrative leadership in the development and implementation of strategic plans, budgets and processes-improvement initiatives, and is accountable for the achievement of program goals, budgets and timelines. The Research Center Manager reports to the Research Center Director.Qualifications

Functional Accountabilities
Responsible Conduct of Research
- Consistently demonstrates adherence to the standards for the responsible conduct of research.
- Plans, conducts and manages research projects within federal and institutional regulations and policies under the direction of the principal investigator.
- Uses research funds and resources appropriately.
- Maintains confidentiality of data as required.
- Meets all annual job-related training and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrates expertise pertaining to research administration resources and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements and Children’s National policies and procedures.
- Assists in the implementation of center’s strategic plan, including short including short-term and long-term objectives through management of day-to-day operations.
- Monitors, measures and reports on operational issues, opportunities, projects and achievements within agreed formats and timelines.
- Formulates and administers center SOP in order to ensure an efficient operation to support investigators and staff.
- Plans and manages center performance and controls departmental expenditure within agreed formats and timelines.
- Plans and manages center communications and awareness of center direction, mission, aims and activities to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contributes to formulation of CRI policy and strategy as a member of task force committees.
- Coordinates center website updates with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Ensures center activities meet and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management and laboratory safety.
- Manages the onboarding and offboarding of faculty, staff and trainees according to established guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Assists faculty with all personnel functions including recruitment, training, performance evaluations and termination of staff.
- Develops staffing plan/schedule and deploys staff appropriately to optimize productivity and to ensure quality services in support of research activities.
- Hires, manages, trains and motivates direct-reporting staff according to company procedures, policies and employment law.
