Strategic Communication Outreach and Education-UX Design Internship

About the role

The UX Design Internship will allow for a deep-dive into the user experience (UX) design process supporting multiple St. Jude web properties, with a focus on user-centered design, user journeys, and user testing. The intern will gain experience in understanding user needs, designing intuitive experiences, conducting usability tests, and communicating the importance of these efforts to internal partners. As part of this internship, you will work across our hospital’s digital platforms, including patient education and research websites, providing exposure to both institutional operations and the needs of a diverse audience.

Qualifications 

  • Candidates must be enrolled in graduate-level studies in user experience design, human-computer interaction, digital media, web management, or a similar field with a 3.0 GPA or above.   
  • Experience with user experience design principles and practices.   
  • Experience with user testing and gathering feedback from users. 
  • Familiarity with design software such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar platforms.   
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical capabilities.   
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.   
  • Ability to manage priorities independently when required. 

Responsibilities 

  • Create user flows, journey maps, and personas to guide the design process.   
  • Conduct user research, including user interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to inform design decisions.   
  • Collaborate with department stakeholders to ensure designs meet the needs of both users and the organization.   
  • Analyze user feedback and data to iterate and improve design solutions.   
  • Review digital interfaces for accessibility and usability, identifying areas for improvement and creating reports for stakeholders.
