Business Continuity Planning Lead

We are seeking an experienced IT Operations Engineer with a remit to manage and coordinate the IT Business Continuity Plan (BCP), reporting into our Head of IT Operations. The successful candidate will have technical expertise in driving wide-scale outage management and developing run books at a macro level. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that our IT environment and operations are resilient and can quickly recover from major disruptions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement business continuity and disaster recovery (BCP/DR) strategies and solutions, including risk assessments, business impact analyses, and documentation of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures.

  • Work with cross-departmental support staff to develop, maintain and execute incident management procedures.

  • Plan, conduct, and debrief regular mock-disaster exercises to test the adequacy of existing plans and strategies, updating procedures and plans regularly.

  • Play a hands-on role and act as a coordinator for continuity efforts during a disruption event.

  • Develop comprehensive run books detailing the process of recovering disrupted systems and to ensure timely restoration of services.

  • Train the organization's staff with respect to BCP/DR protocols.

  • Work closely with key partners to ensure the company's readiness to manage potential disruptions or disasters.

  • Coordinate with BCM Program lead to assure documentation and requirements are met at the BCM level.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT outage or operations leadership.  Experience with business continuity, disaster recovery, risk management, and a working knowledge of IT infrastructure in the financial industry is a preferred.

  • Must be highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT Risk Management or STEM field is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery frameworks.

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with demonstrated leadership in complex environments.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • At times, this role requires availability outside of regular business hours to address potential disruptions or to coordinate recovery efforts in the event of a disaster.  Several annual BCP tests will be conducted that require weekend coordination.
