Summary:
Firefly Telecommunication Technician I's are responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of telecommunications infrastructure and equipment within Firefly. They support operations by ensuring reliable communication systems and structured cabling.
Responsibilities
Cabling Installation & Maintenance:
- Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6e Ethernet cabling and patch panels.
- Install and maintain Single-Mode fiber optic cabling, including direct-bury, long-distance, and armored jacketed cables (up to 144 strands).
- Install, label, and manage Fiber Optic Distribution Panels (FODP).
- Perform basic fiber continuity testing using optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs) or visual fault locators (VFLs).
Infrastructure & Hardware Installation:
- Install and maintain indoor and outdoor cable trays, conduit pathways, and underground fiber vaults.
- Install and maintain security cameras, video encoders/decoders, PoE injectors, and related video equipment.
- Install and maintain audio equipment, including microphones, indoor and outdoor speakers.
- Assist with basic RTS & vLink system configuration, such as adding users and performing minor troubleshooting.
- Install, configure, and support RTS equipment, including key panels, beltpacks, and RTS access points.
- Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot control room televisions, including RF receivers, HDMI cabling, HDMI extenders, and video controllers.
Operational & Documentation Support:
- Update and maintain cabling layouts, infrastructure documentation, and network diagrams.
- Track inventory and product control, ensuring adequate stock of consumables and spare equipment.
- Assist with ordering necessary equipment and materials for telecommunications projects.
- Perform safety checks and operate heavy equipment such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other aerial lifts as needed.
- Provide support during ground equipment checkouts, hotfire testing operations, and vehicle launch operations.
