The Marquesa Hotel is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the property’s engineering and maintenance operations. This position is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and life-safety systems while ensuring repairs and preventative maintenance are completed promptly and with minimal impact on the guest experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee the Engineering team, including hiring, training, scheduling, payroll, and performance.
- Manage the maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, kitchen and laundry equipment, and general building systems.
- Develop, implement, and track preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and hotel equipment.
- Ensure maintenance requests and repairs are completed promptly, accurately, and to hotel standards.
- Oversee capital projects, renovations, contractors, and vendors while monitoring project timelines, quality, and budgets.
- Manage departmental purchasing, inventory, budgeting, forecasting, and expenses.
- Ensure emergency and life-safety equipment and systems are properly inspected, tested, maintained, and certified.
- Conduct property and fire-safety inspections and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
- Participate in monthly HAT meetings, safety walks, incident investigations, and property loss prevention efforts.
- Partner with the General Manager and hotel leadership on short- and long-term property maintenance and improvement plans.
- Respond to engineering-related guest concerns professionally and support timely resolution of property or safety-related issues.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5–10 years of facilities maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in hospitality or property management.
- Minimum 3 years of engineering/facilities management or leadership experience.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general building maintenance.
- Project management and renovation experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple prioritie
