LOCATION, SALARY AND CONTACT INFORMATION               

Location: Detention North Region, 2020 Capital Circle, Alexander Building, Tallahassee, FL 32399 

Starting Salary: $1,780.37 Bi-weekly.  (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.)

DESCRIPTION:

This position is located in the North Regional Detention Services and provides human resource liaison services for assigned facilities and headquarters.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Formulates, reviews and evaluates Personnel Policies and Procedures and makes recommendations to Management.  Interprets rules, regulations and policies and make appropriate recommendations.

Provide technical assistance and information to staff and stakeholders relative to Human Resource issues.

Reviews requests for classification actions.  Prepares appropriate paperwork as required by rules and regulations.  Ensures position descriptions and organization charts are appropriate.

Provides consultation and guidance on Personnel related matters to Management.  Provides recommendations regarding feasible solutions.

Reviews all hiring/selection packets for processing to ensure compliance with departmental guidelines and applicable statutes.

Ensures that all positions are filled in accordance with the Career Service Rules, policies and procedures of Department of Management Services, applicable labor contracts and departmental procedures.

Tracks Workers’ Compensation claims and Extended Medical Leave for the North Region Detention Services.  Works with Headquarters Workers’ Compensation Liaison to track all claims and lost time.  Works with facility liaisons, Assistant Superintendents and Superintendents to ensure that all necessary information is received from employees.

Keeps accurate, up-to-date log of all Workers’ Compensation injuries and Extended Medical Leave cases in the North Region Detention Services.  Logs are updated on a daily basis.  Reports to Director on a bi-weekly basis with Workers’ Compensation and Extended Medical Leave roll-up reports.  Forwards and/or reviews Workers’ Compensation and Extended Medical Leave logs on a weekly basis with the OMC Manager.

Works with facility liaison to ensure that employees receive leave under the Family Medical Leave Act/Family Supportive Work Program if they are eligible.  Requests for leave under Family Medical Leave Act/Family Supportive Work Program are processed within specified timeframes.

Ensures that facilities liaisons and Superintendents are aware of the Department’s alternate duty policies.  Trains facility liaisons, supervisors, and other staff when necessary on Workers’ Compensation and Extended Medical Leave policies and procedures.

Prepares correspondence, compiles and organizes data for reports and special projects as needed.

Tracks all military leave for North Region.  Works with Headquarters’ Payroll Liaison to track all military orders and training dates for employees.  Works with facility liaisons, Assistant Detention Superintendents and Detention Superintendents to ensure that all necessary information is received from employe
