Description
Part time; Cooper Wellness Strategies. The Fitness Specialist will provide the highest possible service to LWCC members in a friendly and professional manner via assistance with equipment usage. Foster positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees.
Fitness Specialist Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Your most important function is customer service for the members. No other duties should be performed unless all members on the floor have been greeted and your service offered.
- Actively circulate fitness floor and assist primary trainer.
- Member-to-member and member-to-staff introductions.
- Help CWS staff to organize the weight room and surrounding cardiovascular areas.
- Replace weights/DBs onto the racks and pick up all accessories end of each shift.
- Clean/sanitize all equipment seats/pads and exercise mats end of each shift.
- Complete hourly/daily tasks checklist(s) as assigned by the Fitness Manager.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
- Maintain a working knowledge of ongoing and current programs within the facility.
- Participate with staff in regular special member events and wellness programs.
- Assist in promoting and offering all wellness programs and activities.
- Adhere to the Cooper Purpose and its Core Values.
- Comply with all Cooper and Client policies.
- Executes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The ideal Fitness Specialist candidate will possess the following:
Skills
- Practical knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
- Ability to demonstrate proper exercise technique.
- Excellent communication, instructional, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational.
- Professional manner and appearance.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of science in kinesiology, exercise science, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of one nationally recognized certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, etc.) required.
- Minimum of two years of personal training experience or approved internship preferred.
- CPR. First Aid, and AED certification.
- Ability to regularly lift 5 lbs., frequently 50 lbs., and occasionally 100 lbs. is required to maneuver the majority of exercise equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate strength training machines, free weight exercises, flexibility techniques, and cardiovascular machines.
