Job summary
The General Manager, U.S. will be responsible for the successful commercialization of products derived from Orchard Therapeutics’ unique HSC gene therapy platform in the U.S., starting with OTL-200 for the treatment of metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD).
This individual is responsible for the development and operational execution of the commercial strategy for the U.S. market. The GM will be accountable for the region’s profit and loss (P&L) and for the direct management or oversight of the internal and external resources required to deliver outstanding results, aligned to both regional and corporate business goals.
This person will direct the U.S. Leadership Team (USLT) as well as participate on the Commercial Leadership Team (CLT) lead by the CCO.

The successful candidate will be a highly strategic, inspirational leader with extensive experience in leading and driving high-performing commercial biopharma organizations. An exceptionally sharp thinker, this individual will bring strong analytical ability and a creative, solution-oriented style. S/he will be results orientated, driven, energetic, passionate about making a difference, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment on multiple projects with aggressive deadlines and a certain level of ambiguity.
Requirements
Required knowledge
- General management experience preferred with responsibility for profit and loss
- Experience of recruiting, retaining, and developing specialized, high performing teams with cross-functional expertise (e.g., marketing, sales, reimbursement, patient services)
- Experience launching premium priced, rare disease products in the U.S. market, gene therapy experience preferred
- Experience in a fast paced, dynamic start-up biotech environment working across a matrix organization effectively and efficiently deploying limited resources
- A strong understanding of disciplines critical for the successful commercialization of biotechnology (e.g., marketing, sales, market access, reimbursement, patient services)

Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related business or scientific discipline. MBA preferred.
