Zurich North America is looking for an Assistant Actuary or Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Data Visualization and Actuarial Analytics Team. Our preference is for the position to be based in our Schaumburg, IL office, with consideration for individuals who may be based out of another Zurich North America office location.
The Data Visualization team is part of the greater Finance & Actuarial organization. The team is tasked with transforming the way actuaries interact with, understand, consume, and present data. The Data Visualization team leverages an agile mindset to design and implement innovative visual tools to better understand and explain results across several actuarial disciplines. The Data Visualization team takes advantage of automated solutions to maximize time available to work with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver creative solutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Provide data visualization support primarily for finance actuarial including, but not limited to, reserving, planning, IFRS17, competitor analysis, actual vs. expected, and claims finance
- Provide support for ad-hoc data and visualization requests as needed
- Ensure accurate and timely updates of existing tools
- Implement best practices in programming and data visualization
- Uphold the security framework of tools and manage user permissions effectively
This position is part of the Actuarial Rotation Program
Basic Qualifications:
Required for Assistant Actuary:
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
OR - Bachelors Degree
AND - 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
AND - FCAS or equivalent international certification
OR
Required for Senior Actuarial Analyst:
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
OR - Bachelors Degree
AND - Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 2 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
OR - Successful completion of 3 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior commercial lines reserving experience
- Advanced problem solving and analytical skills
- Solid project management and organizational skills to work on multiple priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Technically strong with experience in the following programs/programming languages:
o Power BI
o SQL
o Microsoft Azure Data Factory
o Python

We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The combined salary range for this position is $74,300.00 - $140,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Senior Actuarial Analyst is $74,300.00 - $121,700.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for the Assistant Actuary is $85,500.00 - $140,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The salary ranges are for US based positions only.
