About the Role:
At a point of major inflection and scale, Taskrabbit is looking for a Director of Engineering to own and drive the technical strategy and organizational growth and development to enable Taskrabbit to integrate with other businesses to offer Taskrabbit services to their customers. Partnerships are a critical growth engine for Taskrabbit and one of our top strategic priorities. Taskrabbit is integrated with IKEA, our parent company, and we are building our partnerships platform with a range of solutions to unlock more business opportunities through new partnerships. Taskrabbit is looking for a strong leader with experience building a robust and scalable platform to support current and future partners at scale. This leader will be responsible for attracting and retaining high-caliber engineers and engineering managers on a remote-first team, collaborating with Product and other business leaders to define the long-term partnerships engineering strategy to support and sustain hyper growth for Taskrabbit, and leading the engineering team to execute on this strategy. This leader will report directly to the CTO.
What You’ll Work On:
- Drive execution of the Partnerships strategy and roadmap at Taskrabbit, leading teams of engineers to build the product capabilities required to enable business partners to successfully connect with our Taskrabbit ecosystem and deliver a delightful experience for their customers
- Partner with Product, Business Development, Design and leadership to continually refine the Taskrabbit Partnerships strategy based on learnings from the market, and set and drive toward the product goals that will lead us to deliver high-impact business outcomes
- Collaborate with other Engineering leaders and teams on architecture, system design, and technical dependencies that enable us to accelerate progress over time
- Manage multiple product areas, scale teams, and ensure your organization is effective, healthy, and set up for success by establishing clear and measurable goals
- Represent and communicate roadmaps, priorities, and decisions across a wide spectrum of audiences from engineers, EDDP (Engineering, Data, Design and Product) partners, peers across the business, and executive leadership.
- Build and develop a team of engineers with experience building products and systems for scale.
Your Areas of Expertise:
- 5+ years experience building products for scale
- Proven track record managing effective engineering teams; 5+ years managing software teams; 2+ years managing managers
- Experience building customer-facing products and API-based solutions or integrations with external partners
- Experience establishing, tracking, and reporting on team velocity metrics
- Comfortable with React and Rails application development
- Understand tradeoffs between maintainability, complexity, and speed to market
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
