Background information

Wafer Alignment department is a part of the Metrology and Machine Control cluster in the Development & Engineering sector of ASML..
The responsibility of Wafer Alignment function in ASML lithography scanner is to create the horizontal wafer deformation model from measurements. We then communicate the model to the expose side of the scanner where it is taken into account during exposures. The wafer alignment should serve both overlay and productivity objectives in the most optimal way. 

Your assignment

For data analyses Wafer Alignment engineers require tooling to filter, select and group data. This tooling is provided in MATLAB but since most of our algorithms have moved to Julia we require some of the tools in Julia as well. In this internship you will help to develop part of this tooling. This assignment is a great opportunity to experience the working environment in one of the most innovative Metrology departments, while learning about the application domain of Julia programming language. 

Your Profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a bachelor student in Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Have basic programming knowledge and basic linear algebra knowledge (Matrix vector operations, matrix inversion).

  • Have knowledge on data structures (Julia/Python, pandas data frames).

  • Are pro-active and capable of working independently.

  • Have great communication skills in English both verbally and in writing.

​This is an apprentice bachelor internship with a flexible duration of 3 to 6 months, for 3-5 days a week, starting in August/September 2024.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at an educational institution for the entire duration of the internship.
