Job Summary:

Recreation Attendant staff will serve to facilitate a positive experience for customers at Anthony and/or Eisenhower indoor recreation facility. Staff will be paid competitively and may be asked to serve in a lead role as required and/or be eligible for promotion/transfer depending on performance.


Job Duties

  • Maintains a professional appearance, including proper attire and footwear, according to department policies.
  • Provides excellent customer service and possesses a service philosophy which reflects the mission for the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Greets customers as they enter the facility and assures all are properly registered prior to use.
  • Maintains proficiency in computer data entry skills, including use of CivicRec and/or other software solutions.
  • Answers the phone in a cheerful, polite manner. Directs phone calls to the proper people.
  • Acts as support staff for administrative staff and program supervisors.
  • Notifies, instructs, and corrects customer behavior that is inconsistent with safety procedures in a fair, timely, and polite manner.
  • Assists with set-up/tear down of events or activities. Chairs, tables, bleachers, and other equipment
  • Assists in assuring a clean, organized, and safe facility. Includes light janitorial/cleaning tasks
  • Continuously moves throughout facility to monitor usage
  • Carries out all procedures exactly as described by the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) in times of emergency or crisis. EAP training will be provided by MPRD.
  • Completes all assigned facility maintenance and cleaning duties as directed by supervisors.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional working relationships with others; individually and in a team environment.
  • Works in a after school program setting for middle schoolers. Including monitoring, enforcing rules, and participating in activities.
  • Possesses characteristics of a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Additional Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Valid driver’s license (Fall, Winter, & Spring). 
  • Staff will be required to work varied shifts daily including evenings, weekends and some holidays.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge and experience of sports, game rules, and regulations.

  • This is not a KPERS covered position.
  • Seasonal part-time position.
