Job Summary:
Recreation Attendant staff will serve to facilitate a positive experience for customers at Anthony and/or Eisenhower indoor recreation facility. Staff will be paid competitively and may be asked to serve in a lead role as required and/or be eligible for promotion/transfer depending on performance.
Job Duties
- Maintains a professional appearance, including proper attire and footwear, according to department policies.
- Provides excellent customer service and possesses a service philosophy which reflects the mission for the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Greets customers as they enter the facility and assures all are properly registered prior to use.
- Maintains proficiency in computer data entry skills, including use of CivicRec and/or other software solutions.
- Answers the phone in a cheerful, polite manner. Directs phone calls to the proper people.
- Acts as support staff for administrative staff and program supervisors.
- Notifies, instructs, and corrects customer behavior that is inconsistent with safety procedures in a fair, timely, and polite manner.
- Assists with set-up/tear down of events or activities. Chairs, tables, bleachers, and other equipment
- Assists in assuring a clean, organized, and safe facility. Includes light janitorial/cleaning tasks
- Continuously moves throughout facility to monitor usage
- Carries out all procedures exactly as described by the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) in times of emergency or crisis. EAP training will be provided by MPRD.
- Completes all assigned facility maintenance and cleaning duties as directed by supervisors.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional working relationships with others; individually and in a team environment.
- Works in a after school program setting for middle schoolers. Including monitoring, enforcing rules, and participating in activities.
- Possesses characteristics of a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Additional Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license (Fall, Winter, & Spring).
- Staff will be required to work varied shifts daily including evenings, weekends and some holidays.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Knowledge and experience of sports, game rules, and regulations.

- This is not a KPERS covered position.
- Seasonal part-time position.
