About Engineering

Our team is made of people from various technical backgrounds, including engineers who have built and scaled solutions at Google, Netflix, eBay, and GitHub. We build modern software with modern techniques, including continuous delivery, DevOps, and service-oriented architecture. Our team believes cross-functional partnerships are deeply effective; we work in a way that creates and maintains trust with leadership and our peers across the company. We create high-value solutions to clearly identified problems, emphasizing sustainability and maintainability so that our projects continue to deliver value over the long term. We strive to be efficient and effective; some of our proudest moments come from solving business problems without writing a line of code.

About the Role

Stitch Fix’s Frontend Platform team is looking for an experienced engineer to help build the next generation of frontend tools and infrastructure for our growing audience. Our team is responsible for guiding and supporting frontend development at Stitch Fix. We provide platform-level patterns, tools, and infrastructure that help our product engineering teams focus on product problems. In our work, we strive for efficiency, reuse, quality, and autonomy. We're motivated by seeing our engineering partners easily and enjoyably deliver value to our business and positive experiences to our customers.

You’re excited about this opportunity because…

  • You will be a valuable member of the engineering organization, helping guide, develop and grow infrastructure and tooling (such as the design system) that directly supports product web development teams.
  • We work collaboratively as a distributed team across the US, and we use GitHub, Slack, and Zoom extensively to collaborate.
  • You will help us continue to develop new methods of collaborating with partners across Engineering, Design, and other teams.

We are excited about you because...

    • You get excited about solving problems using frontend technologies, including JavaScript, React, and CSS.
    • You have roughly 5+ years of professional programming experience.
    • You are bright, kind, and motivated by challenge.
    • You treasure helping your team members grow and learn.
    • You believe in clear and honest communication.
    • You believe that strong teams are built on trust.
    • You clearly set and share your priorities with your team and partners.
    • You understand and focus on what is right for the customer.
    • You build high-quality solutions and are pragmatic about weighing project scope and value.
    • You are flexible, dedicated to your craft, and curious.
  • You might have prior experience working with design systems.
  • You might have prior experience with accessibility best practices.

About the Technology

Technologies we rely on to pursue solutions to business problems include things like:

  • React & Next.js
  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • CSS / SCSS
  • GraphQL
  • Figma
  • Node.js
  • Rails

While experience with any of these is a bonus, our primary focus is hiring an engineer that enjoys solving problems first and foremost.

You'll love working at Stitch Fix because we...

  • Are a successful, vibrant, fast-growing company
  • Are a technologically and data-driven business.
  • Are at the forefront of tech and fashion, redefining shopping for the next generation.
  • Are focused on our clients and the client experience.
  • Get to be creative every day.
  • Have a smart, experienced, diverse leadership team that wants to do it right and is open to new ideas.
  • Believe in autonomy & taking initiative.
  • Fully support remote work—and you get to connect with your peers and partners through team and company summits.
  • Offer transparent, equitable, and competitive compensation based on your level to help eliminate bias in salaries, as well as equity and comprehensive health benefits.
  • Are serious about our commitment to work-life balance, and have generous parental leave policies.
