Newberry Health is seeking a full-time Patient Financial Services (PFS) Account Representative I to join our exceptional team.
Located in Newberry County, SC, Newberry Health is a 90-bed, acute-care, independent, not-for-profit hospital recognized with the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval. We are proud of our strong leadership, dedicated staff, and commitment to providing high-quality care for our patients.
Job Summary:
The Patient Financial Services Account Representatives are responsible for analyzing accounts receivable, resolving unpaid claims and handling billing inquiries. This includes follow up with third party payers as well as patients to ensure that payment is received in accordance with the payer contract. PFS Account Representatives comply with all applicable federal and state billing laws and regulations. Work is performed collaboratively with all team members of hospital departments, physicians and physician office staff, third party payers and patients to ensure accurate and timely payment.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree or higher or High School Diploma or equivalent with two (2) years or more of specific revenue cycle job-related experience
- Successful completion of basic medical terminology course work
- Proven knowledge of Microsoft products to include; Outlook, Excel and Word
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Versatile and flexible, willing to work within constantly changing priorities
- Prior experience with the Meditech BAR system
- Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) – Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR)
- Exhibits effective and independent decision-making skills
