How will you contribute to the team?

  • Have a good understanding of construction practices for civil, structural, and architectural engineering.
  • Oversee structural designs of Client buildings and MEP support systems and anchorage of nonstructural components about code compliance, seismic and gravity loading, vibration, and integration with existing building and facilities systems. Multiple project support with minimal supervision is often required. 
  • Participate in design reviews as needed to evaluate design, construction, and installation methods for safety, code, and Client standards compliance and value engineering.
  • Provide engineering support and technical guidance to various construction and sustaining facility design teams about building systems, product evaluations, and building code issues.
  • Act as system owner for select structural systems; maintain system documentation and oversee the development of new strategies to meet customer needs more efficiently.
  • Interface with local jurisdiction regarding code issues and comments on ongoing projects.
  • Collaborate with site facility team, construction group, suppliers, and key stakeholders as an integrated team.
  • Providing input on design reviews, constructability, contractor performance and coordination with construction resources to manage discipline schedule and budget.
  • Ensures accuracy of estimating tied to scope of work and linkage to project schedules.
  • Manages the budget, forecasts trades resources, resolves resource conflicts, and coordinates trades mobilization. As required, engages in contract and legal negotiations, incident investigation, safety training, and project assessment.
  • Activities will include:
  • Definition of design criteria, scope definition and justification, development of design concepts, completion of positioning, programming, and detailed design, influencing design standards, construction specifications, and operations requirements.
  • It will also include development of project budgets, schedules, and safety requirements and performing conceptual CSA engineering analysis for multiple scenarios that can include high level schedule and/or budget development to help customers and stakeholders make critical business decisions based on time and cost constraints. Proficiency with reading and interpreting construction contract documents is a must have.

What will you contribute?

  • You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
  • The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Structural engineering.
  • Manage performance of the Design Builder's Architectural and Engineering / Owners Design Consultant vendor for Mechanical and Process Mechanical deliverables.
  • They will also lead inter-discipline coordination efforts and collaborate closely with other disciplines to ensure delivery of a complete, approved, and coordinated scope across a project.
  • They will ensure that work is being performed code compliant and to Client’s Policies and Expectations, e.g, Client Master Design Specs (IMDS) and Client Master Construction Specs (IMCS).
  • Responsible for delivering construction projects globally using multiple project delivery and execution strategies at a competitive advantage.
  • Develops discipline scope and engineering solutions which include schedule, budget, and safety
