Your key responsibilities
• Architect, develop, and maintain robust data solutions (from end-to-end workflows to entire data platforms) that support complex client needs.
• Apply programming skills in SQL, Python and the Spark framework for data processing and real-time data ingestion.
• Lead the development of data workflows utilizing cloud-based technologies, particularly Azure and Databricks.
• Ensure data quality and implement robust testing in varied data environments (leveraging frameworks such as Great Expectations)
• Maintain version control and thorough documentation (e.g., GIT, WIKI) to support development processes.
• In-depth understanding of storage formats such as Parquet and Avro, with practical knowledge of their use cases.
• Actively contribute to Agile/Scrum/Kanban for effective project delivery.
• Use DevOps, CI/CD and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools/principles for efficient deployment and maintenance (using e.g. Airflow/Terraform)
• Collaborate closely with client teams and stakeholders, showcasing effective communication skills and a proactive approach.
• Work both on-site in Amsterdam and remotely, balancing flexibility and in-person collaboration.

Skills and attributes for success
• Strong grasp of data architecture concepts including distributed systems, and data contracts.
• Ability to apply software engineering principles to data engineering, ensuring code maintainability, scalability, and reusability.
• Experience working with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for automated, reliable deployment and integration.
To qualify for the role, you must have
• A Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Around 3 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with demonstrated proficiency in developing and maintaining data solutions.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, and expertise in Spark.
• Experience in Azure and Databricks cloud platforms
• Experience with source control tools such as GitHub and related development processes.
• Experience with workflow scheduling/orchestration tools like Airflow.
• Experience in building cloud-scalable, real-time, and high-performance data solutions.
• Understanding of key data quality concepts and testing in various types of data environments.
• Prior experience with a consulting firm is desirable.
• Fluency in English; Dutch language proficiency is a plus.
• Availability to start by January 2025.
