POSITION TITLE: Occupational Therapist
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Special Services
STATUS: Certified – Contract
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing school based occupational therapy services to the assigned caseload that will be determined each school year by the Special Services Coordinator. The caseload may range from early childhood through high school/post graduate program and include a variety of special education programs. This position is expected to meet the standards of practice for Occupational Therapy. This position is part of the Special Services department team and reports to the building administrator and SPED Coordinator.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide intervention services directly to the child or indirectly on behalf of the child. This may include adapting the environment, modifying curriculum, supporting accommodations, and ensuring access and participation in school activities/educational programs.

Contribute in early intervention, multi-tiered approach (i.e. MTSS) within general education. Occupational therapists can assist with periodic screenings/probes (including both data collection and analysis), provide teacher training, model activities to whole classrooms or small groups, and assist with team problem solving.

Provide training in typical and atypical child development and the impact of physical and mental health on learning and participation at school. Occupational therapy practitioners can/will support the use of assistive technology and provide information on positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS).

Interact with IEP teams and be prepared for team meetings, attend IEPs/evaluation meetings, and complete paperwork in a timely manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Entry-level master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT); post-graduate master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (MS); or Entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD).

Pass the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapy (NBCOT); and

Hold or plan to obtain a current License to practice in the state of KS.

Pediatric or school-based OT experience preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)
