We are hiring multiple Technical Writer Process Specialists to join the team at our Millersburg, Oregon, or Huntsville, AL facility. The person filling this role will be responsible for using internal resources and existing documentation to create accurate, user-friendly procedures and training guides that can be understood by a variety of audiences. The ideal candidate will be successful at building relationships with Subject Matter Experts, collaborating with others, and adapting to business needs. This role supports a team who works Monday through Friday but may have some off-shift responsibilities.
You will learn ATI processes and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including a represented workforce, safety, engineering, quality, environmental, and maintenance.
Attention to detail, a continuous improvement mindset, and exceptional interpersonal skills are included in the skillset of a successful Technical Writer.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Gather information, research, plan, outline, write, and edit technical documents that provide accurate information.
- Collaborate with all levels of the organization to gain an understanding of procedures and products.
- Tailor content to the intended audience, making complex information simple and easily understood.
- Review and proofread content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and adherence to style guides and legal standards.
- Integrate multimedia to include diagrams, illustrations, screenshots, and photos to enhance user understanding of the material.
- Gather feedback to improve content and useability.
- Problem solve document issues using existing practices, procedures, and experience.
- Audit document distribution locations and note discrepancies.
- Collaborate with technical writing team to improve document standards.
- Use guidance and input from manager to align priorities and responsibilities to meet business and team objectives.
- Support team members as needed.
- Promote a safe culture for yourself and those around you.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience writing procedural documentation.
- Understanding of confidentiality practices.
Requirements:

- Observe plant PPE standards, which may include a half and/or full-face mask respirator.

- Proficiency of Microsoft Office Software Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of experience writing procedural documentation or Associate’s degree with 3 years of experience writing procedural documentation.
- Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment is highly preferred.
