About the role
This position provides leadership and direction to ensure the successful achievement of company and department goals to operations managers, administrative staff positions and skill-based pay employees. The regional director is responsible for the establishment, implementation and achievement of goals and expectations that result in the successful completion of the company's goals.
- Develop and implement effective controls, programs and procedures that result in the safe, reliable and efficient operations and maintenance of the region's assets. (15%)
- Establish and ensure implementation of regional operations and administrative objects and plans, including financial cost control and compliance with all internal and external financial procedures and requirements. (20%)
- Develop and manage an effective organization and direct all regional operations, maintenance and technical service activities in a manner which meets system requirements and/or contractual commitments in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with operational and technical standards and governmental codes and regulations. (15%)
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with other regions and other organizations associated with operations as well as key personnel associated with suppliers to customers and regulatory agencies, public officials and landowners. (15%)
- Develop and implement long-range strategic and operational plans for control, management and improvement of safety procedures and operational capabilities and for ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. (10%)
- Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the region including: employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation and organization of goals and objectives; planning, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed within the department. (15%)
- Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
- Advanced degree preferred. At least eight years of related experience, including three years of supervisory/ management responsibilities.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of methods, techniques and skills in the operations and maintenance of natural gas transmission pipelines and natural gas compressor facilities.
- Proven ability to plan, organize and effectively manage a large operations organization.
- Requires continuous availability to manage a 24/7 operation.
- Clearly and effectively convey information and ideas in both oral and written formats.
- Ability to develop rapport and trust with others and take action to build strategic relationships to achieve business goals.
- Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to make quick and practical operations decisions in limited time frames without jeopardizing employee and public safety.
- Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
- Frequent travel to operations field locations or construction sites.
