Position Overview:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures the nursing programs prepare graduates who meet the needs of the community in accordance with standards established by accrediting bodies. Ensures the mission, vision, and philosophy are congruent with the organization’s. Regularly solicits and uses feedback from all stakeholders for continuous program improvement.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with colleagues of other schools and professional groups to provide input on decisions and activities which may impact the school. Maintains productive coordination and liaison with Mercer County Community College, clinical sites, and the organization. Assures the department remains abreast of new technological advances, societal changes, and educational issues and trends, which impact the school.
- Verifies integrity of curriculum and learning experiences that flow in logical progression through the length of the program. Makes sure student learning outcomes are used to organize and guide the curriculum and that the curriculum incorporates established professional standards, guidelines and competencies.
- Confirms that the Systematic Plan of Evaluation is developed and implemented according to ACEN guidelines. Ensures the evaluation of methodologies to reflect established professional and practice competencies and measure the achievement of student learning and program outcomes.
- Assures all faculty are prepared clinically and academically in areas of their teaching responsibility. Assesses teaching and educational needs of faculty. Provides resources to the faculty to assist in the application of appropriate teaching principles and concepts.
- Serves as a resource to faculty on student advisement and educational issues. Assists faculty in the development of standards for the use of teaching tools and principles.
- Recruits and selects qualified faculty. Assures an adequate number of faculty to meet all educational, program, and administrative requirements. Assures expertise of non-nursing staff appropriate to their area of responsibility.
- Maintains appropriate learning resources to assure achievement of student’s outcomes and program goals. Integrates appropriate teaching tools, technologies, and strategies to the curriculum. Confirms teaching materials and methodologies are evidence-based. Assures adequate and appropriate clinical sites which meet curriculum objectives. Assures the adequacy of physical facilities for all aspects of the school’s programs.
- Guarantees active recruitment of students is conducted. Assures the development and implementation of policies and procedures for admission and promotion of qualified applicants and that students meet established criteria for promotion. Provides students necessary support services including health, counseling, academic advisement, career placement, and financial aid.
- Integrates requirements and standards of state and accrediting funding agencies to recruit and retain qualified students on an ongoing basis. Assures school policies and procedures serve and protect the rights, health, and educational opportunities of all students.
- Confirms that integrity and consistency exist for all information intended to inform the public and that the website and intranet reflect current program requirements.
- Oversees appropriate systems are developed and maintained for billing and collection of student tuition and fees. Checks the system for electronic transmission of financial aid and that it is properly maintained. Develops policies and procedures for educational and financial records according to regulatory standards and ensures they are maintained accordingly.
- Oversees and ensures a system for student records and enrollment processes that are developed, maintained, and updated. Manages student health requirements, background checks, and other requirements are met.
- Updates all policies and procedure manuals. Provides updated information and revised policies to all students and faculty in a timely manner.
