Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Pharmacists are to provide pharmacy services such as filling prescriptions, compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals, counseling patients as well as medical practitioners regarding medicines. Pharmacists are responsible to ensure safe, proper, and cost-effective usage of medicines.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prepares and dispenses the prescribed medicines to medical practitioners or patients.
  2. Counsels heath care providers or patients regarding drug interactions, indications, drug dosage and side effects.
  3. Makes proper decisions concerned to generic and therapeutic substitution of medicines that are prescribed.
  4. Provides information or knowledge on other drugs or pharmaceuticals as appropriate.
  5. Provides training and guidance to pharmacy support personnel throughout course of their work and monitoring their performance.
  6. Manages the acquisition and disbursal of medicines to various clinics, offices and other sites.
  7. Establishes and maintains methods and style of storage and record maintaining systems for providing safekeeping of pharmaceuticals.
  8. Supervises the Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy clerks and manages daily production to ensure all duties are completed in a timely fashion to meet delivery schedules
  9. Fully competent and able to perform Staff Pharmacist responsibilities; work as a scheduled pharmacist on the floor among the staff
  10. Communicates regularly on a daily basis with the Director of Pharmacy regarding issues or concerns that impact timely production, safety, or compliance
  11. Ensures that newly hired Pharmacists are trained
