The Opportunity
Ulteig is looking for a highly engaged and qualified candidate for our Manager – Project Management position in the Automation, Integration, and System Protection (AISP) department. This role will focus on leading a team of project management supervisors, project managers, and project control employees while fostering on-the-job employee development, encouraging additional and efficient team growth, and overseeing the execution of project and/or construction management solutions. The duties will include management and development of supervisors and project team members, coordination with clients and business partners, business development activities, resource coordination, hiring, and management of team financial targets and goals.
This individual will report directly to the Director of AISP, interacting closely with clients, Ulteig Lifeline Sector business units (Power, Renewables, Transportation, & Water), Sales/Business Development, and Shared Services (Quality, PM Center of Excellence, Sales Operations, HR, etc.). The Manager - Project Management is a self-starting leader who will primarily focus on project and team success, people development, and PMO excellence.
What You'll Do
Project Management Responsibilities - 40%
- Provide project management oversight, including managing scope according to technical contracts, developing change orders, and maintaining project schedules to ensure successful project execution.
- Be assigned as Project or Program Manager for various AISP projects (i.e. SCADA projects, system protection projects, metering, water automation projects) and responsible for leading projects from initiation through close-out activities.
- Support complex and large portfolios and programs with both technical and project management oversight.
- Promote, monitor, and facilitate project health via Earned Value Measurement (EVM) and data analytics for all projects, programs, and/or portfolios executed within the team.
Team Management Responsibilities - 40%
- Maintain and grow a positive team culture
- Provide direction, leadership, and PMO service oversight for employees on achieving individual, team, department, and organizational performance goals.
- Coach, train, and develop project management supervisors and staff for growth and development opportunities
- Plan and facilitate 1:1 and team meetings
- Actively manage team resource planning and workload
- Perform individual quarterly and annual performance reviews, training, and professional development for team members
- Responsible for team financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and hiring.
Business Development Responsibilities –10%
- Work collaboratively with client team leads (CTL’s) for select clients to maintain a high level of client service and resolve both project and non-project related issues
- Participate and partner with members of the Sales team and Project Managers throughout the organization to promote revenue growth and expansion of services with existing and prospective clients
- Support proposal efforts by developing, providing resources, and reviewing proposals by working with the Proposal Development Team, Sales, and other service departments
- Maintain and grow positive client relationships with existing and new clients
Process Development and Improvement Activities - 10%
- Invest in continuous improvement activities and initiatives for the department and company, driving effective and efficient project execution
- Work closely with Project Management Center of Excellence to align tools, processes, and best practices across the enterprise.
- Creation and delivery of training tools, standard operating procedures, and process enhancements
What We Expect from You
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or construction management (or related field) from ABET accredited university.
- Advanced degree in engineering management or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in renewable, power, and/or water projects, in a technical and/or project management role(s).
- PMP or higher/equivalent certification preferred.
- Knowledgeable of engineering workflow and construction management
- Experienced with PMI methodology, including earned value metrics for monitoring project health
- Experience in leading, managing, and developing other Project Management Professionals.
- Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintain
