Job Description Summary

Oversees and manages financial and administrative duties, including budget preparation and management, for the Emergency Department research portfolio to ensure duties are performed effectively and efficiently in compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations. Supervises and/or provides guidance to assigned office personnel.

Job responsibilities for this role are as follows: Independently prepares and manages operating budgets, grants, and revenue transactions, including some pre-and-post-award grant management support and those with complex subcontracts. The role involves managing salary grids, effort reporting, billing, accounts receivable, purchasing, and vendor relations. Ensures fiscal integrity of all financial transactions. Summarizes and interprets financial data. Conducts budget to actual analysis and other complex financial analysis. Implements and manages administrative information systems. Oversees purchasing and vendor relations. Negotiates contracts with vendors and approves invoices for payment. Oversees and coordinates payroll transactions/processing and time reporting. Supervises and/or provides guidance to assigned office personnel. Acts as liaison with HR and participates in the recruitment and hiring process, salary planning and administration, and other HR issues for the department. Serves as liaison between the Department of Emergency Medicine and other university and outside contacts. Interprets and implements department and university regulations and policies. Exercises resource stewardship to ensure compliance with related policies and procedures. Additionally, the manager will implement process improvements to enhance efficiency for the research business office in the Department of Emergency Medicine.
