Managing Director, McCourt School of Public Policy, Economic Dignity Lab, Georgetown University - The Economic Dignity Lab at Georgetown University seeks a dynamic Managing Director to execute the mission and serve as day-to-day engine of the Lab.
The Economic Dignity Lab seeks to develop, specific, tangible policy solutions based off the principle that the ultimate goal of economic policy should be a guarantee of the following three-part definition of economic dignity: 1) the ability to provide for loved ones while being there for life’s most precious moments; 2) the ability to pursue purpose and potential – with second and third chances; and 3) the ability to work with respect, and have freedom from domination or humiliation.
The Managing Director is charged with supporting and overseeing execution of the mission and vision of the Lab, as set forth at a high level by the Executive Director, and will direct the Lab’s daily activities. The Managing Director will be the primary contact and staff support for the Lab’s Executive Director. They also will build and enhance the network of the Lab, including identifying and supporting opportunities for collaboration with potential partners. In addition, the Managing Director will serve as a key point of contact for the Lab, along with the Economic Dignity Lab Executive Director, and will represent the Lab in meetings within and outside Georgetown. The Managing Director will manage any administrative personnel that work on including, but not limited to communications, administrative, financial, and/or events support. This position will work collaboratively with all staff to advance the mission of the Lab. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building programs and executing on big ideas. They will be an experienced professional with prior experience and expertise in managing a non-profit organization, program, or coalition, and have experience in and/or knowledge about the intersection of technology and social issues.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Support the Executive Director with strategic planning, implementation, and coordination of Economic Dignity Lab programs, projects, and fundraising strategy.
Build relationships, communicate organization goals and operational plans across EDL staff and other Georgetown centers or schools as needed.
Have primary administrative responsibility for the organization, including hiring and supervising staff; and managing the budget.
Coordinating operation and use of EDL space
Support the Executive Director in developing and implementing a communications strategy.
Support the Executive Director in helping to develop and execute a strategy for fundraising
Advanced planning and coordination for EDL events
Overseeing convenings
Executing on established EDL programs.
Work Interactions
The Managing Director reports directly to the Executive Director of the Economic Dignity Lab. Work includes interaction with senior University leadership, high-level government officials, private-sector leaders, foundations and other grant funders, and academic and civil society organizations as necessary to advance the Lab’s goals. The Managing Director will interact with the University’s Human Resources, Finance, Advancement, and Special Events teams, along with other offices and departments as needed.
This position will supervise EDL personnel, student assistants, and other Economic Dignity Lab personnel.
