Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director for Residential student Conduct & Community Wellbeing - Boca Raton, FL

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Directs a comprehensive residential student conduct program following state laws and SUS and Florida Atlantic policies, guidelines, and procedures and utilizes an educational philosophy when adjudicating conduct cases.

  • Align the residential student conduct program with best practices, professional standards, and a curricular approach to residential education.

  • Adjudicates alleged violations of the University’s Student Code of Conduct and Residential Community Guide, ensuring consistent and fair application of standards, outcome development, and outcome compliance.

  • Directs the work of Hearing Officers.  Assigns student conduct cases and holds staff accountable for student conduct and community responsibility-related work.

  • Serves as the liaison to the Dean of Student’s Office, FAU Police, Civil Rights and Title IX, and other offices for student complaints, incident reports, investigations, and resolutions.

  • Conducts training for the Housing and Residential Education staff and serves as a resource for staff regarding best practices, alternative case resolution processes, policies, and procedural guidelines.

  • Initiates referrals when appropriate to proper resource departments on campus, including Civil Rights and Title IX, Counseling and Psychosocial Services, Victim Services Office, and more.

  • Assists with developing and revising student conduct and community wellbeing policies, procedures, and practices, including the Residential Community Guide.  

  • Assesses the residential student conduct program and provides reports as directed.

  • Tracks Clery reporting training for Housing and Residential Education staff. Assist the Dean of Student’s Office with verifying the Clery violations and report data on behalf of Housing and Residential Education.

  • Conducts follow-up in collaboration with the Dean of Students Case Management Team

  • Coordinates Health and Safety Procedures emphasizing safety and well-being, including training, guidance, and follow-up.

  • Work with department staff and key stakeholders to develop and implement educational initiatives around safety and wellbeing.

  • Serves on University committees.

  • Participates in the rotating Leadership on-call system for Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses, responding to emergencies and stakeholder concerns.  On-call coverage, is on a weekly rotating basis, including times when the university is closed (i.e. federal holidays, Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer).
