Job Description:  

The Maine Department of Transportation is seeking entry-level civil engineering candidates to fill a variety of positions in the Bureau of Project Development. The Highway Program has a position that will be working in a team environment on the design of roadway or related projects.

Preliminary design tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of Preliminary Design Reports to recommend the final project scope,
  • Preliminary cost estimates, and
  • Civil engineering tasks such as analyzing geometric design of roadways.

Final design responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Civil/structural design or design checks of all components,
  • Plan development,
  • Final cost estimates, and
  • Compiling all project specifications.

This position will be introduced to project management principles and advanced technical engineering duties/responsibilities. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are required

 

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field –OR- non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
