Your Work Matters How will you make a difference?
The Director of Food Services is responsible the effective management of the Food Service Department. This includes but is not limited to purchasing, preparation, serving and pricing of all food served at Hospital for Behavioral Medicine. The Director supervises all purchasing, receiving, storage and utilization of all food, supplies and equipment for the Dietary Department. The Director enforces cleaning and sanitation ensuring the standards of the hospital, Joint commission and CMS standards and local and federal regulations are in compliance. The Director supervises the preparation and service of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals for patients and facility staff according to the approved menu cycle and production sheets. The Director supervises cooks and Dietary Aides.
- Oversees the entire operation of the kitchen and the dining room.
- Oversees the preparation and serving of food on schedule, according to the menu.
- Trains and schedules all food service personnel.
- Ensures that the kitchen and dining room operation is fully staffed at all times.
- Ensures that HBM food facilities meet all federal and state sanitation and health requirements.
- On a minimum of a daily basis, checks all refrigerators and freezers for proper food storage including the labeling, dating and timing of foods.
- Participates in Performance Improvement for Dietary Department and hospital-wide. Assists with the purchasing and utilizing all food and supplies.
- Assists with the receiving and storing of food items; inspects and signs for food and non-food deliveries for Dietary.
Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:
- Education: Culinary degree or related discipline preferred, but relevant experience and technical abilities will be considered.
- Licensure: Training in food service sanitation and possession of food service food handler’s permit required. ServSafe Manager required. Certified Dietary Manager preferred.
- Experience: Preferred to have at least five (5) years’ experience in quantity cooking, a basic knowledge of modified diets. Experience utilizing industrial kitchen equipment and utensils preferred. Three (3) years kitchen supervisory experience preferred.
