Tech Lead / Lead PHP (FinTech)

We’re seeking a Tech Lead Full-stack (PHP) to lead the development of advanced, scalable, and secure systems in the banking sector. This ambitious project focuses on delivering high-risk payment solutions that adhere to the latest industry standards, ensuring performance, reliability, and robust security.

As a Tech Lead, you’ll drive technical decisions, provide architectural guidance, and lead a team of PHP developers to deliver high-quality systems aligned with business objectives. You will play a crucial role in designing solutions for complex payment platforms while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Our technology stack for these projects primarily revolves around PHP for backend development with a focus on modern frameworks and tools for architecture, deployment, and testing.

About the Project:

Our platform is a cutting-edge high-risk financial solution that enables customers to send and receive payments globally. Initially a self-serve service, it has evolved into a full SaaS platform with multi-tenancy support, ensuring the highest levels of security, transparency, and reliability for our clients.

Requirements:

- 7+ years of development experience with PHP (PHP 8 preferred)

- 2 years of experience in technical team leadership and mentoring developers

- Strong expertise in backend systems architecture, API development, and secure coding practices

- Solid understanding of databases, including MySQL, MongoDB, Redis

- Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ

- Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and deployment environments

- Deep understanding of security protocols, risk management strategies, and industry compliance standards

- Proficient in English with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Additional (Good-to-Have) Skills:

- Hands-on experience with CodeIgniter

- Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems

- Familiarity with Kubernetes, CircleCI, or similar tools for deployment automation

- Exposure to the high-risk payment industry, including crypto or financial transaction systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

- Lead and mentor a team of PHP developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

- Define and enforce architectural standards, coding best practices, and development methodologies.

- Provide technical guidance and ensure alignment of development efforts with business goals.

Systems Design & Architecture:

- Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for high-risk payment systems.

- Evaluate existing systems and recommend architectural improvements to optimize performance, security, and maintainability.

- Incorporate scalability and future-proofing into architectural decisions.

Planning and Resource Management:

- Collaborate with VP of R&D, product owners, and stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and resource allocation.

- Proactively identify potential bottlenecks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure on-time project delivery.

- Manage project milestones and provide clear communication on progress and challenges.

Security & Compliance:

- Oversee the implementation of secure coding practices and protocols for payment processing, crypto transactions, and customer accounts.

- Ensure systems adhere to industry standards and regulatory compliance for high-risk payment systems.

- Conduct security audits, identify vulnerabilities, and implement fortification strategies to mitigate risks.

Quality Assurance & Delivery:

- Implement and enforce coding standards and best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.

- Conduct code reviews and manage deployment strategies to achieve smooth integrations and minimal downtime.

- Ensure rigorous testing processes are followed for performance, reliability, and security.

Continuous Improvement:

- Stay up-to-date with advancements in PHP, high-risk payment industry trends, and modern software development practices.

- Lead initiatives to optimize development processes, tools, and overall system performance.

- Promote a culture of continuous learning and encourage team members to upskill and adopt emerging technologies.
