Ngā Kōrero mo tēnei tūranga / About the role 

We are looking for a tax specialist to join our Tax and Enterprise team, within Tax and Legal Services, in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland at Senior Associate level. You will work to provide tax consulting and compliance services to a broad base of clients under the direction of senior staff.  

You will assist in solving a client’s complex business problems by minimising tax and tax compliance costs and to manage their strategic and operational tax risks. 

From our offices at PwC Tower in the bustling and vibrant Commercial Bay, you will work to advise a variety of clients on tax compliance and advisory matters, including support for strategic transactions, business structuring, and regulatory obligations. You’ll also get the opportunity to work on a broad range of tax assignments and interact with other parts of the PwC business, at home and at times overseas. This is a full time, permanent opportunity, minimum 37.5 hours per week. Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:  

  • Delivery and execution of tax advice and tax compliance liaising directly with clients under the guidance and support of experienced tax advisors 

  • Providing tax advice/consulting and expertise to businesses undergoing acquisitions and divestments 

  • Mentoring and developing junior team members 

  • Working with leading digital tools to drive new efficiencies for the firm and our clients

  • Providing valuable insights and solutions to clients through effective research and application of tax legislation 

Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience 

  • Minimum 2.5 years’ professional experience in a Chartered Accountancy or similar professional services environment, managing corporate tax affairs and delivering tax compliance and advisory services. 

  • CA ANZ, CPA Australia or equivalent qualification (or working towards it), with proven technical capability in interpreting complex tax legislation and preparing or reviewing corporate tax returns and provisions. 

  • Strong analytical, research and reporting skills, with practical experience in M&A transactions and a sound understanding of New Zealand tax governance frameworks. 

  • Proficient in tax and business software such as TaxLab, Xero and Salesforce, and confident using secure A.I. tools (e.g., ChatGPT Enterprise, LawCyborg, Harvey) to enhance analysis and efficiency. 

  • Collaborative and client-focused professional, skilled in mentoring junior team members, managing stakeholder relationships, and delivering accurate
