Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
This position is time-limited for up to two years.
- Works with faculty on grant applications, providing scientific and conceptual editing to help faculty and their research groups pursue research grant funding and publish manuscripts to improve clarity of writing and highlight the significance of the research. Furthermore, help with the mechanics of manuscript and proposal submissions.
- Manages the communication efforts of the Physics Department; develops, implements and manages a communication strategy targeting prospective undergraduate and graduate students, as well as students and the general public; develops relationships with department members to identify stories; writes, edits and disseminates features stores; attends monthly science communication meetings to pitch story ideas to Arts & Sciences Communications teams; designs, creates, and implements the execution of various departmental newsletters; maintains social media channels and digital spaces of the department.
- Supports the Department by preparing drafts and editing of materials that are needed for Faculty Tenure/Promotion, Faculty searches/recruitment. Keeps faculty handbook updated. Works closely with Chair/Business Manager on researching and implementing new initiatives.
- Create and Implement writing workshops for Physics faculty and students in summer months.
- Creates and implements communication design and strategy for internal Physics communications
- Assist with staffing for Physics events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
