Full-time PN Hybrid Program Faculty
Days - 8 hrs
Position Summary:
The full-time faculty member demonstrates nursing leadership through participating in the theoretical (didactic) and clinical education of pre-licensure nursing students. The role of the nurse educator is a specialized practice in which the faculty member exercises continuous discretion and judgment in assessing learner needs, and in developing and implementing effective teaching strategies. The FT faculty member assess student learning outcomes through the development of valid and reliable assessment tools (tests/exams) and evaluates student clinical practice according to defined outcomes. The faculty member facilitates learner professional development and socialization. The faculty member maintains current knowledge of best practices in nursing education and in nursing practice to contribute to overall curriculum development, evaluation and revision. The FT faculty member is responsible to see that students meet the learning outcomes according to established standards. The FT faculty member engages in the scholarship of teaching and learning, participates in various non-curricular campus life activities, such as advisement and committee work, and may provide nursing expertise to the larger organization.
The PN Hybrid Program Faculty (HPF) does not have full didactic classroom teaching responsibilities. The HPF provides classroom supervision while students are engaged in the virtual, synchronous teaching/learning activities. The HPF may have teaching responsibilities while students are engaged in certain activities such as group work or poster presentations and may provide assessments of those activities according to a rubric. The HPF provides classroom supervision during exams and ensures exam security.
The HPF will establish regular, frequent communication with the teaching team at the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing campus to ensure that the program is delivered with fidelity to the approved curriculum.
The HPF is responsible for overseeing and/or teaching the skills lab portion of the practical nurse courses according to the approved curriculum. The HPF will be responsible for clinical instruction.
The HPF is responsible for obtaining and submitting data on student attendance and outcomes.
Education Requirements:
Master’s degree in nursing and current New York State licensure as a registered professional nurse is required.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of five years of current clinical experience as an RN. Previous teaching experience preferred. National certification in nursing education preferred.
