New Graduates  

 

New registered nurse (RN) graduates benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. The program provides socialization and support, enhances clinical judgment, and promotes professional development.  

 

About Simon Family Tower NICU

The Simon Family Tower NICU is a 60-bed, Level IV neonatal intensive care unit. Critically ill newborns are admitted from around the state that may require ECMO, surgical interventions, Neuro-NICU care, or several other high-risk and specialty services. Nurses work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate care and support to patients and families as they celebrate successes, navigate the challenges of complex diagnoses, or face end-of-life decisions. 

Nursing skills gained on this unit: 

• Critical care assessment skills of the Level IV NICU patient
• Ventilator management, including high frequency jet and oscillator ventilators, invasive lines, IV drips
• Training opportunities for Aquadex & ECMO
• Assist with bedside procedures such as: central line and chest tube placement, intubation, ECMO, and surgeries performed at bedside for patients too critically ill for OR
• Bereavement Care

Qualifications  

 

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. 

Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. 

Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. 

Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. 

Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
