About the Team:

 

Life & Health Underwriting Services team supports regions across Asia (India, SEA, Hong Kong/Taiwan and ANZ). We deliver 100% case assessments for India, SEA and Hong Kong/Taiwan that includes High Net Worth business. The team is building expertise in disability income product for ANZ region.

The team is a close to two decades old and we are committed to develop proficient underwriters, craft roadmap for competency enhancement and give growth opportunity for potential candidates like you through local rotation and international assignments.

Along with core job, experienced underwriters participate in-house Life Guide projects, client specific portfolio review & analysis.

This position entails working for various markets within L&H Re Asia excluding China team with hybrid working conditions. Therefore, provides huge learning opportunity towards developing the understanding of insurance/reinsurance practices of the regions like ANZ, Hong Kong, India, Singapore.

 

About the Role :

The Apprentice will be responsible to deliver support to L&H Re Underwriting Team. Key work areas are to support assessment of individual and group life & health reinsurance in accordance to underwriting guidelines.

 

L&H Re APAX Underwriting Apprentice will be highly motivated individual to join the L&H Re APAX Pricing Services team. The main tasks will be –

• As an UW analyst, you will be responsible for supporting assessment of individual and group life & health reinsurance in accordance to underwriting guidelines
• Provide accurate and consistent risk selection on a timely basis through prudent case assessment and strategic thinking skills
• Maintain the defined quality and turnaround time for case assessment
• Able to engage with internal and external stakeholders on operational and case by case level.
• Establishes & maintains positive relationship with internal partners.
• Identify & resolve service issues with internal clients /stakeholders
• Prepares statistical client/region specific reports and share strategic inputs/solutions with business partners
• Ad-hoc support on projects driven by Cross functional teams
• Adhere to the process Standards and guidelines for L&H Underwriting activities defined by the L&H products hub
• Able to develop and deliver a training module to junior underwriters/clients.

 

About You:

  Desired:

• You are a science graduate (eg..Biology, Microbiology) , medical (Doctors) and/or paramedical staff (Nurse, Pharmacist , Physiotherapists/radiologists) 
• Basic awareness on end-to-end insurance value chain and legal, regulatory, tax and consumer protection framework in the market.
• Foundation understanding in Life Underwriting and all other products available within the local market.
• Decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
• Willingness to expand own knowledge on Insurance/Reinsurance concepts
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Other foreign language will be added advantage
• Commercial instinct and negotiating ability
• Ability to build rapport & maintain positive relationships with the team and market underwriters and any other stakeholders
