Job Description

The Technology LDP is an 18-month experiential commitment crafted to cultivate your business knowledge, gain on-the-job training, network in an encouraging, inclusive, team-based environment, have exposure to senior leaders and contribute to the success of the company through 3-4 rotations. Embark on this journey as a Leadership Development Program Associate and lay the foundation for your future.

The 18-month Technology LDP program offers a structured technical concentration or a pathway to upskill in a specific technology team. This position is for our Minneapolis-based RiverSource Technology LDP Pathway.

As a Technology LDP, you’ll support three key areas of the RiverSource Technology team for a 6-month rotation each.

  • The Systems Engineering team supports general infrastructure including network infrastructure changes using infrastructure as code and DevOps tools. As part of the team, you will support existing and future technologies in cloud environments, app migrations, and troubleshoot system failures and recommend fixes or improvements.

  • The RiverSource Data Lake team supports curation and ingestion of data to support various business modeling and general reporting. As part of this team you will build, develop data files/feeds for curation and loading into the data lake.

  • The Operations Management team uses various tools to monitor RiverSource technology systems for availability, user issues, and nightly batching. As part of this team, you use monitoring tools to evaluate, monitor and remediate system performance issues.

After exploring the breadth of the business unit through each rotation, LDPs may have the opportunity to post to a permanent position within Ameriprise Financial.

The Technology LDP contributes to the success of the firm by delivering technology solutions to support the evolving needs of our clients, advisors, and employees. Our Technology organization is committed to strengthening and securing our systems, delivering unparalleled customer experiences, uncovering efficiencies, and growing and succeeding as a team.

 

As part of the Technology Leadership Development Program, you will cultivate leadership skills by co-collaborating and leading different Committees (Employee Engagement, Professional Development, Volunteer Committee and more).

Responsibilities vary depending on rotation and assigned projects(s) and may include:

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements

  • Develop, document, test, and modify new and existing code

  • Develop working knowledge of Ameriprise systems, processes, data, and vendor tools

  • Learn and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to the development life cycle

  • Write and maintain development/programming/systems documentation, as well as operations and user guides, as required.

  • Make recommendations for improvements. Continuously improve analysis skills and best practices from prior projects, training and peer learning.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with technology teams, business partners and LDP peers

  • Participation in Technology LDP Committees
