MySQL / AWS Database Administrator

Position Responsibilities: 

●       The MySQL/AWS DBA is responsible for monitoring the health of all databases, and will ensure the availaibility and performance of all database services.

●       Mentor and train other DBA teammates on MySQL/AWS platform best practices.

●       Troubleshoot and resolve performance problems or platform issues inlcuding Disk, Memory, CPU, queries, etc.

●       Collaborate with developers, data architects, and DBAs to design and impliment new solutions and data retention policies.

●       Mentor and cross-train other MS SQL Server DBAs on the MySQL/AWS cloud platform, and conduct code reviews with DBAs and developers.

●       Participate in the team’s on-call rotation.

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

●       10+ years of experience in Database Administration roles, with 7+ years working with MySQL Server (5.7 or newer).

●       5+ years of experience in cloud-based Database Administration on AWS.

●       Availability to work during off-hours when needed when part of on-call rotation.

Nice to have:

●       Ability to write, modify, and review SQL queries and provide guidance on best practices.

●       Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server on versions 2016 or later.

●       Experience working as part of an Agile team using Scrum methodology.

●       Experience working with complex data in a highly regulated industry.
