General Description:

Michelin products excel in multiple tire performance areas. Each Michelin tire is designed to carry the vehicle loads while offering top class; traction for braking and acceleration in all conditions, a quiet and comfortable ride, fuel efficiency, and of course excellent wear life.  Mastering the physics and mechanisms of these and other tire performances through research and development of test methods for the benefit of the tire product development teams is the core of this position.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Work within the Michelin Research & Development networks to:

 Develop and share scientific and technical knowledge from inside and outside of the company for the sake of advancing and improving tire performance.

 Provide relevant test methods to the Michelin testing department that explore a targeted area of tire performance while also including any possible efficiencies. Assure in the long term that these methods are relevant and robust.

 Provide simulation methods to design and development teams with the goal of accelerating the product development cycle. Guarantee in the long term that these methods are relevant and robust.

 Provide expertise to design and development teams in a known domain of tire performance enabling success of near to market (2 years to launch) and advanced product development (5-10 years to launch) projects and fundamental research.

 Maintain and improve existing tire performance test methods.

 Train others or give expertise outside of the company on a specific domain.

 Successful applicants would be trained within Michelin in the Wear tire performance domains.

KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

• Build test and simulation methods, and define performance metrics in a specific tire performance domain

• Adapt and maintain test and simulation methods

• Solve technical issues by using existing methods

• Transmit and share knowledge by means of producing technical reports and training materials. (internal and external scientific publication)

REQUIREMENTS:

•             Bachelors in Physics or equivalent experience or Engineering required

•             Masters in Physics or Engineering or applicable experience strongly preferred
