The General Superintendent is a seasoned leader in the construction industry responsible for supporting multiple project teams in their oversight and coordination of all on-site activities. Their role is for complete Quality Control and Quality Assurance of delivered projects, to provide all of the required resources for the team to be successful and to be the Client interface for the field team. to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Their role involves project planning and providing strategic leadership for multiple teams in the oversight of labor, contractors, materials, and equipment while maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders. This role will require fulltime travel throughout the West Texas region.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Communication:
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain communication with stakeholders providing regular updates on project progress and addressing concerns promptly.
- Team Leadership: Strong leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, develop, and motivate a diverse team of construction professionals.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborative approach to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Contractor Relations: Maintain communication with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to coordinate orders and deliveries.
Scope:
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide project teams, contractors, and suppliers. Responsible for overall success of many projects and teams. Ensures resources are in place for teams to be successful.
- Team Meeting: Participate in any Owner/Architect/Construction Management Agent (OAC) where possible, coordination, trade contractor meeting, scheduling, and any other meetings and make sure they are productive and documented properly.
- Site Management: Guide all on-site activities, including mobilization, plan for site access, staging areas, security, construction, closeout, contractor work, and material deliveries, to adhere to the project plans and specifications.
- Site Organization: Oversee multiple sites to ensure organized and clean construction sites, providing guidance and support for workflow and safety.
- Schedule Management: Review schedules with Project Teams to identify potential problems.
- Contractor Management: Provide guidance and support in the coordination of contractor activities, monitor their performance, and ensure they meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Quality Control/Quality Assurance: Supports and uses expertise to guide quality control and assurance efforts of inspections, verifying work meets specifications, and addressing deficiencies.
- Issue Resolution: Support field team in addressing project-related issues and challenges promptly, seeking guidance from the Senior Project Manager and/or Regional Vice President of Construction as needed and keeping them fully informed in a timely fashion regarding any to all problem areas on the project.
- Regulatory Standards: Ensure projects adhere to all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
- Construction Materials: Mastery of common construction materials, their properties, and uses.
- Construction Equipment: Mastery of construction equipment, tools, and their proper usage.
- Material and Equipment Management: Oversee the delivery and tracking of construction materials and equipment.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project needs, handle unexpected challenges, and adjust project plans accordingly.
- Documentation: Review, expedite, and monitor project documents (reports, schedules, invoices, ASIs, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes/agendas, daily reports, change orders, punchlists, inspections, closeout, project-related correspondence, and stakeholder presentations.)
- Report Review: Review status reports, updates, and presentations for project managers and stakeholders for accuracy.
