Business Director, Community Impact and Investment - LOB Advisory

As a Business Director at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead a team of 8-10 associates that drives business value and social impact by leveraging data and research insights, community-based expertise, and an integrated enterprise perspective to inform business decisions and products, shape the philanthropic strategy, drive a thought leadership agenda, and track metrics for community impact and return of business value.  

This team works in close collaboration with other teams in Community Impact and Investment (CI&I), Community Finance, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Intelligence as well as project partnerships with teams in Retail, BC&P, Auto, Card, and Commercial.   
 

General Responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership: Contribute to business and philanthropic strategies that will drive growth, profitability, competitive success, and community impact for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory behavior

  • Function ownership: Have ownership for this key function. Strategic planning with a 12-18 month horizon at minimum

  • Leadership: Manage and develop a team of analysts and strategists. Coaching and mentoring associates throughout the organization with a goal of making Capital One a rewarding stop on their career journey

  • Product: Inform new product and pricing strategies for products that are part of the Community Benefits Plan (e.g. Ventures Lending)

  • Credit Risk: Support LOB teams in driving step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to a deep understanding of community trends and conditions, to inform risk models, and test hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis

  • Execution: Coordinate across lines of business to manage and sequence delivery of CBP aligned products and inform and enable the delivery of a broad portfolio of community investments

  • Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation,

  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should be a collaborative problem solver and a tenacious decision maker, able to contribute to and be informed by the wisdom of the crowd

  • Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. He/she should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results

  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment

  • Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus

Travel: Up to 20%

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)

  • At least 7 years of experience in analysis 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s Degree 

  • 2+ years of experience in financial services 

  • 1+ year of experience in consulting 

  • 3+ years of experience in people management
