Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live on millions of activated devices across five continents, with more than 60 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT.
This role is located Mountain View, California where we are onsite 3 days a week in office.
Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo
Skylo is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer for our network implementation team. Reporting directly to the Director of Network Implementation, the selected candidate will develop and manage network infrastructure and cloud components automation frameworks. The role includes designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and optimizing cloud-native telecom network environments. This is a terrific opportunity for a candidate who wants to make a visible impact in the dynamic environment of an early-stage startup focused on an exploding market segment.
How You Will Contribute
- Design, implement, and manage end-to-end CI/CD frameworks to automate the NTN component deployment.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scalable automation frameworks across network engineering.
- Define and manage the release lifecycle for network elements from development to production for all network functions.
- Automate complex multi-vendor, multi-domain software and firmware releases across RAN, Core, and other network layers in hybrid environments.
- Continuously improve DevOps workflows to increase reliability, reduce lead time,s and support zero touch deployments.
- Build and maintain automated environments for integration, staging, pre-production, and testing.
- Develop modular release workflows to manage versioning, rollback and safe deployment strategies across all network domains.
- Ensure DevOps automation and cloud infrastructure adhere to security best practices.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce role-based access control and implement appropriate security policies.
- Enable proactive fault detection and predictive maintenance for cloud-hosted network components.
- Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives and drive strategic automation projects.
- Work closely with network design teams and cloud architects to align and optimize automation strategies.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
What We Look For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
- 5 - 8 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud infrastructure, or telecom automation.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in deploying RAN, EPC, and various network components.
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and GitLAB
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, Ansible, or Go for automation scripting
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Container orchestration in telecom environments.
- Experience deploying network components in hybrid, cloud-native, and edge computing environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and optimization skills across infrastructure and network layers.
- Proficiency in AWS, GCP, and services such as VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, Route 53, Google Compute Engine, Cloud VPN, Google DNS, and Cloudflare.
- Nice to have an understanding of 3GPP standards and 4G/5G network integrations
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation skills in cross-functional environments.
- Ability to work well with people around the globe and be both highly motivated and motivating
