What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Design and Development: Lead the design and development of special CKD and universal containers specifically tailored for the automotive industry, focusing on solutions for single and welding parts within the body shop and assembly
- Automotive Standards: Ensure all container and rack designs comply with automotive industry regulations and are optimized for the unique requirements of welding parts and single components.
- Collaboration: Work closely with automotive engineering, logistics, and production teams to ensure that container and rack designs integrate seamlessly into the vehicle manufacturing process, particularly in the handling of welding and single parts.
- Quality and Innovation: Drive innovation in the design of containers and racks to enhance durability, safety, and cost-effectiveness, with a specific focus on the needs of single and welding parts in the automotive sector.
- Processes Management: Understanding the use of manual and automated material handling equipment (e.g., tugger trains, forklifts) and develop strategies for universal and CKD concepts. Ensure these strategies align with assembly and body shop.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
- The responsibilities of this role require attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in container and rack design within the automotive industry, with a focus on single and welding parts.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software, specifically CATIA V5, with a strong understanding of automotive industry standards and regulations.
- Compliance: In-depth knowledge of industry compliance standards and regulations, ensuring all designs meet required safety, environmental, and quality standards.
