Your Role:

MilliporeSigma currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Analytical Development Scientist 2, specifically in Protein Chemistry and Viral Vector Characterization, to join our team. This position is an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in the field of gene and cell therapy.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement analytical strategies for the characterization and analysis of viral vectors used in gene and cell therapy, with a focus on protein chemistry.
  • Develop and qualify analytical methods for the characterization and quality control of viral vectors.
  • Experience with library preparation, sequencing platforms, and data analysis is essential. Previous work with viral vectors and gene therapy is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in NGS technologies, including library preparation protocols, sequencing platforms (such as Illumina or Ion Torrent), and associated data analysis tools (such as bioinformatics pipelines and software). Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and viral vector manipulations is also important.
  • Strong skills in analyzing NGS data, including processing, quality control, variant calling, and annotation. Proficiency in relevant software tools and bioinformatics pipelines for NGS data analysis (such as BWA, GATK, or SAM tools) is advantageous.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize analytical methods and instrumentation specific to viral vector analysis.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements and trends in viral vector characterization techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and conclusions in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Independent lab contributor, no manager skills required.
  • Interfacing with both internal and external customers as technical subject matter expert to routinely provide technical guidance and updates.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or other Life Science studies
  • 10 + years of experience in pharma, medical device, biologics, or similar technical industries
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in biologics analytical method development

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry Biochemistry, Biology, or other Life Science studies
  • 7 + years of experience in pharma, medical device, biologics, or similar technical industries
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in biologics analytical method development

                                                   OR

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or other Life Science studies
  • 3 years of experience in pharma, medical device, biologics, or similar technical industries

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experimental troubleshooting and critical thinking when analyzing NGS data. Attention to detail and the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from complex datasets are important.
  • Strong understanding of viral vector structure, function, and associated impurities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines, such as ICH and FDA, for the analytical characterization of viral vectors in gene and cell therapy.
