As a CHEMICALS & RESINS STRATEGY LEAD, supporting our PROCUREMENT SOURCING STRATEGIC TEAM, you will be trusted to manage and perform strategic sourcing work to manage risk and optimize the value and resilience of materials and services sourcing at FORT WORTH, TEXAS, US.  

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Bringing strategic solutions to single sourced chemicals and resins across manufacturing sites in Surgical, Vision Care and Ocular Health.

• Partnering closely with the Manufacturing Sites, R&D, and Procurement to identify sourcing needs of chemicals and resins.

• Leveraging technical expertise of resin material specifications to actively identify alternate resins that can meet material and processing specifications to mitigate business risks.

• Working with R&D design centers to establish the technical evaluation plans needed for resin and chemical material design changes to ensure product safety and efficacy is maintained, this could include but is not limited to chemical/polymer analysis, extractable/leachable studies, and product stability studies including the new resins.

• Ensuring that Alcon develops, maintains, and executes effective sourcing plans of chemicals & resins to drive benefits to the franchises.

• Partnering with Global Category Managers to achieve business objectives around supply continuity and cost improvements.

• Monitoring market dynamics that impact materials and services availability and pricing.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)

• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

• 7 Years of Relevant Experience

• Work hours: Monday through Friday – 8:00am – 5:00pm

• Travel Requirements: 0 to 10%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Materials / Polymer Science or Chemical Engineering

• Background in material properties, synthesis methods and polymer / resin applications to support development and manufacturing of products within different areas of ophthalmology.

• Strong understanding of material characterization techniques and analytical test methods (FTIR, Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectroscopy)

• Good understanding of regulations for chemicals related to Environmental, Health & Safety and Global Regulatory Compliance

• Data and people driven manager and decision maker

• Ability to lead and drive the execution of strategies and initiatives
